Many Pinterest users are concerned about their privacy. Whether you are a writer, photographer, crafter or food blogger of course you want to receive credit for your work. Here are a few things to keep in mind about Pinterest and your pinned images.
1. Watermark your photos with your blog name- You can either use your blog name or, better yet, describe your blog post and include your blogname within the image. Here is a great example from Hands On As We Grow:
2. Even if you are not mentioned within a pin the original source of the pin image is listed under the pin so your site will still be referenced.
If for some reason the link to your site is removed or changed you can comment under the pin asking that your link be inserted. Part of the problem with Pinterest is that so many are joining so quickly that most don’t know the “rules” yet. They may not even realize they have pinned something that links to nowhere. If you continue to have problems receiving credit you can report the issue to Pinterest.
3. If you are still concerned about your site being used without your permission you can now block your site from being pinned. This is a tough decision for many, because the traffic benefits of Pinterest are so great, but I’m glad Pinterest has provided this option for those who want to use it. There are several plug-ins available to block your site from being pinned, one we like is Block Pinterest.
